September of this year we were lucky enough to travel to London, England! It can be super intimidating to travel to a foreign country with a "strict" or "unusual" diet. Luckily for us, London is like a goldmine of amazing vegan restaurants and restaurants with Vegan options! I'm listing my favorites during the trip (ranging from super healthy to a lil more indulgent)!
Shoreditch - $$$
This place was only a few minute walk from our hotel in Shoreditch, and was the first place we ended up eating upon arrival in London! We made sure to eat relatively healthy the first few days of our trip so we wouldn't be negatively impacted by any jet-lag or by all the travel! This place was perfect for this! I ordered their Buddha Bowl which changes daily! This one had quinoa, black bean chili, cauliflower, avocado, tomatoes, and pumpkin seeds! This recharging dish was exactly what I needed! My husband got their "pulled pork" which came with an amazing slaw and sweet potato fries! (I totally snuck one of those). And okay - while I definitely wanted to eat healthy - I could not pass up this chocolate raspberry cheesecake.
SoHo - $$$
We wandered our way over to this adorable little nook in the SoHo region of London. If you are looking for a healthy, nourishing meal in London, look no further. This was absolute *PERFECTION* the day after a long flight. Raw food is so nutrient dense and hydrating - absolutely ideal for someone trying to recover quickly from a long-haul flight! I ordered the raw tacos which came in flax-seed taco shell. The taco had homemade saurkraut, radishes, and a delicious cashew cream! Perfectly satisfying! I stole a bite from my husband's raw/not raw plate which had a raw burger and some baked fries! Absolutely incredible! Totally worth checking out!
Shoreditch - $$

You cannot go to London without grabbing a full English Breakfast. I've attempted to make it a home a couple of times, so I knew what I was getting into (Beans & Sausage? HECK YES). We walked over to Dishoom and were pleasantly surprised that they had an entire separate vegan menu! This is so helpful! We both ordered the full english breakfast which came with vegan sausages, indian spiced beans, avocado, the worlds SOFTEST, BEST, ROLLS, roasted mushrooms, and a roasted tomato. I am the type of person who takes a plate of food and immediately dives in and mixes everything together. Food is meant to be mixed up and this plate was perfect for that!
Shoreditch - $$

You know the food is good at a coffee shop when you go only for coffee and end up ordering a whole breakfast. We took one look at the menu and knew we had to order their two vegan options: a Tofu Scramble on Rye and homemade Banana Bread. I am a savory breakfast person, but I'll be honest, warm banana bread won me over. It was soft, warm, not too sweet, and came with peanut butter and jam (although it did not need it at all!). The Tofu Scramble was so flavorful, it came with a spicy compote and some microgreens. A perfect light breakfast to share before a day of exploring!
Soho - $

London's First Vegetarian and Vegan Pub. Let that sink in. Vegan. Pub. YASS. This pub came with an authentic cat who sat in his own booth and everything. We ordered the vegan fish and chips to share with a couple pints (of course). The fish and chips here wasn't too bad! It was tofu wrapped in nori and batter fried, with fries (chips) and peas! It came with vegan tartar sauce for dipping as well! Definitely something we wanted to check off the box!
Chelsea - $$$

On our last night in London we were desperate to find some more traditional British food (veganized of course). So we parted ways from our group to try out the Vegan Shepards Pie! The lentil mixture was savory perfection and it came with piped on mashed potatoes - you literally cannot lose! Its hard when traveling thinking you are going to miss out on traditional foods! But for a lot of cases in big cities there are vegan versions of traditional foods available! People love their comfort food, and people love nostalgic food, so of course they make vegan versions of meals that they ate growing up!
This definitely isn't an exhaustive list of Vegan Places in London - but these were all easy to find, accessible via public transportation, and had great vegan food! You'll have to let me know if you try any of these restaurants out!
